How does the mind work?
How does the mind work?
If we had to put all of our behavior and emotional challenges into just one bucket, it would be called the “instability bucket”! When our conscious mind and our subconscious mind ARE NOT in agreement, we can be called “double-minded”. In James 1:8 it reads, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. The quickest way to eliminate unwanted behaviors and fears, is to align the conscious mind and the subconscious mind using hypnosis. Once we understand the subconscious belief that is driving our unwanted behavior, we can change that belief. We can then easily adopt the desired new behavior. Now with our conscious mind and our subconscious mind in alignment, we are “single-minded” and able to achieve our desired goals.
I like to use the metaphor of weeds in a garden. Our conscious mind is like the weeds we see above the ground. The roots below the ground are the subconscious mind. We can whack at the unwanted weeds (behaviors) that we can see all we want, but the subconscious mind (the driving force) just keeps pushing up new weeds (unwanted behaviors). In other words, the unwanted weeds (behaviors) just keep growing. Once the subconscious mind has been re-educated through hypnosis, and accepts new beliefs to be correct and true, it then manifests new behaviors like beautiful flowers and shrubs (not ugly unwanted weeds).
Another metaphor that explains how our conscious and subconscious minds work together, is the ‘Genie-in-the-bottle”. Remember the TV show “I Dream of Jeannie”, or the movie “Aladdin”? The Genie was always very literal in what it does for its Master. While sitting in a boring meeting and the Master thought, “I wish I was in Hawaii”, the Genie would immediately transport the Master to Hawaii. However, that’s not really where the Master wanted to be at that moment, because he needed to be in the meeting. But the Genie is there to do what it believes the Master literally wants. Our subconscious mind is our Genie, it does not make a judgement and think “this is wrong or that is wrong”, or “this isn’t what the Master really wants”. Our Genie is simply there to do what it has been told to do. Once the Genie (our subconscious mind) has been re-educated through hypnosis, and accepts new beliefs to be correct and true, it then manifests new behaviors for the Master that work.
